THE BEGINNING OF A DREAM
Once upon a time, in 1962, in Ponta do Sol, Madeira, João Lucas was born, the son of Manuel Lucas, a merchant who owned a typical shop. In search of a secure future for his family, Manuel decided to emigrate to South Africa, where João discovered his passion for fresh ingredients and the art of serving.

From Roots to Innovation
After facing instability in South Africa, João Lucas and his family returned to Portugal and found in the Algarve the perfect opportunity to create something new.
With influences from South African recipes and sauces, Burger Ranch was born in Praia da Rocha. From the start, the meat was grilled on volcanic rocks, a unique innovation at the time.

From Portimão to the whole country
In 1997, his nephew Luís Caetano joined the company, bringing a renewed vision and entrepreneurial spirit that propelled Burger Ranch into a new phase of growth. Their shared passion for quality and innovation led them to open their second shop in the heart of Rua das Lojas in Portimão and, in 1999, they opened their first franchise in the Continente Shopping Centre in Albufeira, solidifying the brand’s presence nationwide.
Since then, Burger Ranch has remained committed to adapting to market trends, always innovating the menu with new recipes that balance tradition and modernity. Each shop is designed to offer a welcoming and familiar atmosphere, valuing personalised service and the customer experience.
Today, the brand has a growing network of shops spread from the north to the south of the country, maintaining the spirit of a family business, but with an eye on the needs of a modern and diverse public. ‘We remain committed to excellence, always looking for new ways to surprise and delight our customers.’
